PROGRAMS

Education and Outreach

Northern Oklahoma Humane Society would be happy to come to your school or civic group and give an educational speech on topics that interest our community. Topics include basic information such as an overview of our shelter, being kind to your pets, the importance of spaying and neutering your animals to help end the overpopulation and homelessness problems. We will share opportunities for you to get involved, like volunteering at the shelter, organizing a class food drive or cat litter collection drive, becoming an animal foster parent, or simply spreading the word about the need to get involved and help animals find them a forever home! For more information please visit us at the NOKHS shelter or call us at 580.767.8877.

Foster Care

Foster Care is a service often requested by members of our community. This is a program we would like to grow. Our vision is to see foster care provided by volunteers like you, individuals and families in our community, who provide temporary care for homeless pets until adoption. Foster parents ease the homeless pet's grief and anxiety in the transition to a new home. Foster parents are always needed for cats, kittens, bottle babies, all size dogs, and puppies. Our greatest need is for foster parents!

We will provide the standard medical care and spay/neuter of the pet along with a bag of dry food, while you and your family provide love, exercise, and socialization. While you are preparing your foster pet for adoption, we are working with you to post the pet's photo, personality description and any special needs on our website and Petfinder.com, to assist you, and to plan the pet's attendance at our scheduled adoption events, where potential adopters can meet pets in foster care.

If you are interested in volunteering with us in this service, please call the shelter at 580-767-8877 or fill out an application online to foster cats or dogs.
